Markus Reich has build a new car. It is probably the widest Corrado to have ever existed. At the German season opener at the Schottenring it had it's first outing, mainly as a shakedown but clearly this is one mighty machine when it will be running at full speed.
Pikes Peak was run a few weeks ago. As most will know Romain Dumas won with the VW ID.R. However the real hero of the race for me was Simone Faggiole, the 10 time European champion tackled Pikes Peak for the first time in a Norma sportscar. He did this with a small budget effort, as a rookie, with a car that didn't quite have the proper setup and he finished with a 8:37:230, which was slower than he hoped to go but still the fastest anyone has ever run a Norma up the hill. Which means he went faster than Romain Dumas ever went with a similar car (Romain's Norma was AWD, Simone ran a RWD version). The run itself is quite a spectacle as well, very fast, very bumpy and very sideways!
Here we see Daniel Wittwer in his Mk1 Golf. As usual with these golfs this thing is driven on the limit, a lot of sideways. The ending of the onboard where he finishes and just screams and celebrates is amazing, suhc passion for his sport. Unfortunately his passion for the sport was severly tested last year. Martin Wittwer, Daniels brother passed away last year after a fatal accident during the Oberhallau hillclimb in Switzerland. So he decided to dedicate this video of himself to his brother.
Another bit of crazy hillclimb machinery. It's a Zastava 750, which is basically a Eastern European Fiat 600. However this one has a Suzuki GSX-R motorcycle engine putting out about 200 hp. This is not a car to be messed with. Tricky to drive but a glorious sound and very spectacular to watch!
